[Q] Is it possible to merge /data and /storage/sdcard0 partitions? topic

Hello,

As the title says, is it possible to have /data and /storage/sdcard0 merged and have emulated internal sdcard as it is done in other newer devices?

I am running an older Resurrection Remix ROM and I have had the insufficient storage available issue when installing or updating applications quite regularly. Now I am looking for a new ROM to install and I am determined to also solve this problem.

I have found many guides that show you how to change the allocated memory for each partition on the phone, which definitely can solve the problem, but it is still not as convenient as the emulated sdcard would be. On the other hand, I have found no information on the merged storage.

I am not experienced in android development, but I know a thing or two about UNIX. From what I have found this functionality is available by default in android versions 4.0 up or so. Is there any reason why this can not be implemented in AOSP/CM ROMs for Galaxy S2? Any hardware limitations or lack of some documentation from Samsung?

Thank you,
Tommy
