How I Went from a Moto G GPE to a Moto X 2014 topic

In July 2014, I started my journey with a Moto G Google Play Edition 16GB. At the time, I had a Nokia Lumia 520. I hated the phone and had been looking at the Moto G for a while as it was cheap and I missed Android (I had many phones before this). Within the week I ordered, the headphone jack started acting up on the 520 (it wouldn't work, tried to clean it, ended up using permanent speakerphone). After a bonfire at a friends house, I went home and looked at the Moto G some more. At approximately 3:06 am, I pulled the trigger and ordered for 0. I upgraded to one day shipping and received it the next day. I immediately fell in love with the phone. Perfect screen size, great battery life, stock Android, smooth animations...it was everything I could've asked for in a phone. A few months go by, and I'm completely happy with it. Then, disaster strikes. It was December 2014. My phone tells me I have an update. I click update, per usual. Upon boot, I get nothing. Recovery wouldn't boot, screen wouldn't turn on. I feared the worst. I contacted Motorola and sure enough, it was hard bricked. I was devastated. They tell me they can replace it, as it was on warranty. I accept with the Advance Exchange Program. They say they should ship the new device in 2 days. 1 week goes by, I contact Motorola again, they tell me to wait. After a week and a half, I contact Motorola for the last time and they tell me that they don't have my phone and stock and never planned on replacing my phone exactly. My options they gave me were "upgrade" to a Moto G Google Play Edition 8GB (not much of an upgrade), or UPGRADE to a Moto X Developer Edition 32GB. I chose the latter. I get the phone in 2 days and fell in love all over again. The thickness was perfect, the screen size was ideal, resolution was great, the phone was incredible. I loved the Active Display feature, the Moto Assist, the twist for camera. I was content. Until, after usage for another few months, I realize after reading forums that the battery life is not up to par whatsoever. Knowing that Motorola sent a refurbished device, I assumed the battery was bad. Admittedly, I initially called to get a "replacement" Nexus 6, as I had read stories about that sort of replacement occurring. After research on common problems however, I realized my fake battery problem was real. I called Motorola and they said they would send me the same device I had (Moto X Developer Edition). I was not happy with this, as I wanted the Nexus 6. They said that they wouldn't know officially which device I was getting until the I got a shipping notice. After 4 elevations of service, and 3 hours on the phone, I finally got to the White Glove support. Within 5 minutes, I got more info than I got in 2.5 hours from the other representatives. She said they no longer carried my device and would upgrade me to a Moto X Pure Edition 32GB. Sure enough they did, I received this phone on April 6 (white front, royal blue back, red trim). The screen size really allows a lot more efficiency and feels more like a mix between phone and tablet. This is great for videos and pictures, as well as surfing the web. I am finally content with my phone, and can see keeping this phone for a couple years.

TL; DR: Bought a Moto G Google Play Edition 16 GB for 0, ended up with a Moto X Pure Edition 32GB after a couple RMA's
