So I plunked down close to 0 for an international data plan for my trip to Europe last week. hoping to use my phone for data.

When I got there the phone part worked fine however couldn't get the data to work.

Turns out the firmware on the phone locks down the Access Point Settings on the phone and the correct APN for global data cannot be selected.

After contacting Sprint International customer service they confirm that this issue happens on most Samsung phones and that they need to fix it...

I had the same issue a couple of years ago on another Sprint Samsung phone, back then it was also fixed by a firmware update.

Pretty sad they can't get these phones right...

[08:27:41 AM] Armand K.: They fixed it before pretty quickly when the S4 first had the issue, am not sure why it is taking so long to get it correct now, or why it keeps having to be fixed every time Google drops a New OS update.

[08:31:01 AM] me: but then it was rooted and was able to fix it myself...

[08:31:37 AM] Armand K.: But not something we advise everyone to do.

I ended up buying a local sim with a data plan which worked fine btw...
