[Q] TF700 charging and USB Host connector at the same time ? topic
I'd like to use my TF700 in my vehicle.
I want to have it charge while its also connected to various USB devices, such as a hard drive, DAC, etc.
I know that the TF700 charges when the special charger puts 15V onto the USB power pins on the USB charging data(slave) cable.
I have a spare TF700 charging/data cable. I also have a FT700 USB OTG adapter. I've tested my peripherals and they work with the OTG adapter.
Could I make the charging/USB data slave cable work for my application with the following modifications ?
1) find the power wires in the charging/data cable and cut them.
2) Connect the power wires going to the TF700 to +12V (nominal) from the vehicle. Would it need to be conditioned ?
3) Replace the male USB A connector with a female USB A connector.
I'd leave the new female connector un powered because I'd be connecting it to a powered USB hub, which would power any peripherals that would be connected to the TF700.
Would this work ?
