[Q] poor tethering performance on iOS 8 - AT&T LTE topic
I have 2 phones on AT&T (both LTE): iPhone 5s (iOS 8) and original Android HTC One.
When I USB tether with HTC One, the speed is always amazing in NYC. It's good enough that I can remote VPN to work.
with the iPhone I have portable wifi hotspot enabled, and that is slow 80% of the time. Often times (few times a day) I have to turn the airplane mode on and off to get the data to work again.
I can be in the same coffee shop, and HTC will fly, while iOS is crawling. Not sure if this is a USB vs WIFI issue, or just iOS.
Need some ideas on how to troubleshoot it because when I went to the AT&T store they told me some BS that the iPhone apps are taking some bandwidth in the background and if I want a good speed I should buy a dedicated device.
