[Q] flashing from safestrap, signature verification topic

I have watched several videos and noticed most people do not check signature verification when flashing roms and such. I've tried it with a few roms and everyone of them has failed. What does that mean? If I flashed them anyhow without signature verification, will the boogey man try and get me? Will my hair catch on fire? Will Y2K happen?
