New owner - N9007 topic
Hi all, new owner of an N9007 here. This is a reluctant upgrade from a Note II that I completely destroyed - it fell out of my pocket just as I got in the car, and timed its fall so well that as I shut the car door, I smashed it between the door and the door frame. Then it hit the asphalt. Then I got out and stomped on it and shot it three times with a revolver (not really, but I probably should have for completeness).
Getting a new phone reintroduces me to bloatware every time.... I am not a fan. Can anyone tell me:
- any known faults that I should look out for before I do anything that risks my warranty?
- how does the N9007 fit into the model range as far as ROMs go? Can I use a 9005 ROM?
- I am not sure I need a custom ROM anyway, as I gather I can get root without one. I am thinking that this might be enough - kill all the bloatware, etc, run ES File Explorer properly etc, but otherwise leave it alone. Anyone have a view on this?
- Do I understand correctly that I can root this without tripping knox, but can't run a custom ROM without tripping knox?
- what's the ROM of choice anyway?
I was really happy with my Note 2 but it was cheaper to get a new Note 3 than to replace or repair the Note 2.. A Note 4 was available but honestly just too expensive for my liking. The Note 3 was basically free except I had to contract for 2 years.
Anyway, here I am, nice to meet you all etc. This is a nice phone I have to say. Interesting how it feels smaller than the Note 2.
