I started doing this just for experimental basis on my note 4 without root after lollipop update.
1. I encrypt my phone.
2. I activate knox protaction under security, i just ignored warning about activate this feature will affect performance.

Results i like to share is...
No problem in performance.
Antutu score around 50k.
Antutu stability test shows fentastic.
Amazing battery life.
In my opinion u can try this, if you don't like very well u can revert back.
U can select finger scan as a password for screen unlock.
