Restoring my old 8.3 V500 topic

My 8.3 died from water damage unfortunately.
I've bought a "new" used 8.3 V500 now.

I was running rooted stock 4.4, and I still have a TWRP backup on an sd card.

The choice I have now is to either:
-restore my old backup and continue where I left
or
-start from scratch with a new custom rom, possibly lollipop based.

I am quite attached to the "tap screen to wake" feature that the stock rom has.
Is there any other rom that supports this feature?
