[Q] To update edge or not topic

Hello. I am on my second s6 edge from sprint. It the update what is causing the screen rotation issue or is it safe to update? Trying to avoid a third s6. If it is the update is there a way to turn off notifications of updates? Tired of seeing it on lock screen. Thank you for the help!
