[Q] Best method for restoring JB twrp backup to new phone? topic

SOCIALIZE IT ⇨

Hi!
Bought my first D801 in Sept. 2013. It came with stock 4.2.2 rom. I promptly rooted it, installed TWRP and Slim AOSP rom. Never took the KitKat OTA, and it's been running great ever since, currently with updated Slim Rom and TWRP 2.7.1.0.

The other day I broke the LCD and decided to buy a new G2. This one arrived with stock kit kat 4.4.2 installed, D80120a. I would like to be able to restore my most recent twrp backup from the one phone to the new phone. What's the best way to go about doing this? Must I downgrade to stock 4.2.2 to restore JB partitions, then root and flash twrp? Or can I root the 4.4.2 directly, use autorec to install twrp, do a full wipe and then restore? Or something else?

I've been digging through threads as usual, but I'm concerned about mismatched partition schemes and possibly the white lines issues associated with auto rec on my device.

Thanks in advance, any guidance is appreciated.
