Proximity sensor ? topic

Hello,

I am using Samsung Galaxy Core 2 (SM-G355H) And My Father have LG X-137 The LG Phone have only front camera and primary camera like my phone but that phone turns off light automatically when in call and something is kept over the camera . So my question is that is it possible that i can use my front camera on galaxy core 2 as proximity sensor and turn off light in call when i touch it with ear and again turn on when i remove it from ear ?
Please help me.
