Lolipop update bad battery life topic

Hey,

My father owns a g2 I own a g3 so I know the g2 well. I owned one in the past.

Anyways last weekend I updated his phone to the latest ota and now the battery life is not as good as before when it was rubbing kitkat. This same thing also happened after he had the phone for over a year ago and I just factory rested the phone. That worked, but this is there anything to try before I go to the extreme and do a factory reset?
