Gyro/Accelerometer Issues Surfacing with the S6E topic
Wanted to start a thread in the General General forum about Gyro/Accelerometer issues that seem to be popping up with this device. There's threads our forums (HERE and HERE) as well as on androidforums.com dealing with autorotation and People Edge Glow not working. Troubleshooting is bringing folks back to a faulty Gyro/Accelerometer with the only known solution being a replacement device . . . at least for now.
In my particular case I couldn't get the People Edge Glow to function and while troubleshooting the problem I noticed that none of my apps or pix would auto-rotate. I downloaded a clinometer app from the Play Store and noticed that when I rotated the phone, the bubble level would only track about 14 degrees to the left and right of vertical before stopping. Bottom line for my People Edge Glow issue is the phone didn't know it was upside down, wouldn't glow, or allow me to silence a call using the heart rate sensor. I returned my phone for a replacement and all's working perfectly.
If you suspect your Gyro/Accelerometer isn't functioning properly, a quick check is to open the stock calendar app and flip your phone between portrait and landscape in both directions to see if it rotates. S6E's are starting to run out of stock and after reports of Edge glass production not keeping up with demand, finding a replacement may start getting tough.
BTW: I'm on a white VZW 64 GB S6E - completely stock.
