[FIX] i337m Wi-Fi Password Not Sticking topic
Here is an easy fix for anyone who has used the Wolfdroid TowelRoot method for rooting their Canadian S4 on 4.4.2 NI2 and has lost auto-connection to a WiFi network with a saved password.
I've read a lot of bad advice involving reflashing kernels, stock resetting, efs changes, etc that are clearly based on speculation. This method can be performed right on your device and takes like a minute. More importantly, it actually works.
Warnings:
- do this at your own risk, you are responsible for your device, blah blah blah...
- only tested on my device for this exact problem and firmware. I can't tell you if this will fix any other WiFi issues or if it works on the i337 (or any other variant).
- if you don't read this whole post I will ignore your (already addressed) questions.
- no promises.
From what I can tell the permissions get screwy when using this method, so following these steps worked for me and should work for you.
1. Use a good root file manager (I use solidexplorer).
2. Navigate to data/misc/wifi/ and find wpa_supplicant.conf.
3. Change the permissions to rw-rw--- amd ensure that the file's owner is 1000 (system) and its group is 1010 (wifi).
That's it. My permissions were r-r--- after rooting, so I made this simple change and WiFi now automatically reconnects to my network.
Cheers and good luck,
Rob
