EE/DPD not accepting my proof of ID topic

Hey guys, I have upgraded my phone to S6 last Friday, delivery was today but the driver refused to give me the phone because I used a national id, as I am not British this is used just as regularly as a driving license here in UK.

I said fair enough, he doesn't know about it which can happen so I rang DPD and explained the situation and this is where the shock came in, they required me to have a BRITISH ID, with me not being British and not being a driver, how am I supposed to get a British ID and anyway, it's a discrimination from their side because it's a valid ID which you can use to travel across whole Europe, see here:

They refused to redeliver today or just refused to deliver in general so I had to speak with EE who after 2 hours and 30 minutes and me asking them to cancel the upgrade and give me a PAC code so I could leave them and only AFTER that they agreed to contact DPD, arrange a redelivery and put a note on for DPD to actually accept the ID.

Has this happened to anyone else? Can I ask for a compensation? I spent around £20 on a phone to DPD but I should get that refunded + my delivery chargers have been dropped, the only thing that's still annoying me is that if I haven't spent those 2 hours on the phone and asked them for my PAC code which is like a magic word for them, I am not sure how I would get my device and no one is going to give me 2 hours of my time back where I could've done some work.

The battle is not won yet though, delivery is rescheduled for tomorrow OR Wednesday, we'll see if I can finally get my hands on the device and they better have sent a working device.

TL;DR: DPD refused to deliver because I have a national id which they don't accept as a valid form of identity even though it's a legal document issued by Slovak government.
