Do Cyanogenmod zips Include a Kernel? topic

The instructions for installing Cyanogenmod on the i777 specify using "fakeflash" to "temporarily" replace the stock recovery:

http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i777

The "temporary" recovery is then used to install the Cyanogenmod ROM.

My i777 currently has Cooked 1.2 w/ the AJK 4.9 noswap kernel. When I look into the Cyanogenmod 7.1 (old, I know, bear with me), or 10.2 zips, I cannot find a zImage inside. And, I don't see one being put in place by update-script. I the Cooked 1.2 zip, I find zImage, and it is installed by update-script.

So, if I go ahead with the "fakeflash", or use the custom recovery I currently have in place (AJK 4.9), will I be left with a Cyanogenmod 7.1 (or 10.2) and an incompatible kernel left in place (AJK 4.9 NoSwap, not AJK 4.9 AOSP for CM)?

From what I lay out above, it seems clear to me that Cyanogenmod zips do not include a kernel for the i777, but I find it strange that I don't see anybody else mentioning it.
